Never really liked Orlando Bloom or Kirsten Dunst, but I had to watch this movie when I saw that it's written and directed by Cameron Crowe. In the end, Elizabethtown is certainly no "Almost Famous", but it's definitely better than "Vanilla Sky". :P
The story is about Drew Baylor(Bloom). He just lost almost one billion dollars for his company, and while he was on the verge of killing himself with a knife stuck to an exercise bike, a phone call from his sister saved him. His dad had just died from a heart attack, and he must travel to Elizabethtown to take care of his dad's memorial. On his way home, he met a beautiful flight attendant Claire(Dunst), and little did he know at the time that she was about to save his life.
This movie is not for everybody; I'm sure lots of people will say it's boring and does not have much of a plot. I really liked it though. It finds humor and sweetness in the most melancholy situations. Just watching the way Bloom and Dunst interact with each other fascinates me. The dialogs are inspiring, scenaries from Drew's roadtrip was colorful and interesting, and I feel that the story brought us hope, which is always the best feeling in the world. And of course, the music soundtrack from the movie is wonderful, as expected from Crowe. Watching this movie almost feels like breathing in a breeze of spring; it's warm, it's refreshing, and it's comforting.
