电影英语课第一堂：《侠盗魅影》

 一、
《Bandidas》里的有点迷糊的男主角Quentin是criminal scientist。看看电影开头，这个expert 是如何用scientific method 调查出真相的吧！
No wounds on the body to indicate foul play（谋杀）from a weapon of any sort. 尸体上没有任何武器造成的伤害。
The contents of the safe are intact（完整无损的） thus ruling out robbery as a motive. 保险柜的财务没有丢失，所以不是有人蓄意盗窃。
The science of fingerprinting （"指纹"识别）has determined there are no prints but victim's on the doorknob and frame. 指纹鉴定表明门把手和门框只有死者的指纹。
The window is latched （vt插上插销,n.插销）shut from the inside so no one could enter or leave by that route. Thus ruling out homicide as a cause of death. 窗户从屋内上锁，所以没有人能从窗户进入或离开，因此并非他杀。
There‘s no indication of whiskey in the glass or on the breath of the deceased.（死者）杯内没有威士忌，死者的口中也无酒气。
 No carpet fibers （纤维；纤维质）on the soles （脚底, 鞋底, 基础）of her shoes, so she never set foot on the carpet. 鞋底没有残留地毯现为，因此死者并未踩上地毯。
There's a scuff （磨损，磨伤）on her right shoe tip where polish（擦亮；磨光） was removed. 死者右脚鞋尖的漆擦破了。
There is traces （痕迹，蛛丝马迹）of the same polish on this upturned （朝上的, 翻过来的）bit of carpet. 这片翻过来的地板上有同样的漆。
There're traces of flower pollen （花粉）on the edges of the nostril. 鼻孔周围有花粉的痕迹。
I therefore conclude from the evidence gathered that the deceased entered the room with a bunch of flowers. 由收集到的证据推断，我的结论是：死者带着一束花走进房间。
She placed the flowers in the vase by the door. 她把花插在了门旁边的花瓶里。
She took the vase in one hand , along with the whiskey tumbler （平底无脚酒杯; 平底大玻璃杯）in the other went across the room to the decanter（有玻璃塞子细颈盛水[酒]的瓶）of whiskey. 她一手拿着花瓶，另一只手拿着威士忌的酒杯，走向房间的威士忌酒瓶。
Let the flowers get too close to her nose which she sneezed , her left foot
involuntarily （不知不觉地, 无心地）slipped forward caught the tip of her shoe on this carpet, tripped, hit her head on the floor, died from shock of brain. 由于花离她的鼻子太近了，她打了个喷嚏，她的左脚不知不觉地向前滑，脚尖绊倒在地毯上，头部撞击地面，致死。
In other words, it was not foul play that killed this poor woman, but an accident caused by a simple sneeze.换句话说，这个可怜的人并不是被谋杀的，而是一个小小喷嚏弄死了她。
And in fact, it's not a woman but a man wearing a horse-haired wig.事实上，这并不是一个女人，而是一个带这乌宗假发的男人。
二、 
看看女绑匪之一的Maria和别人的一段对话吧。简单的几个词，就彰显了Maria 强悍的的个性。剧中男主角曾形容Maria 说话 like microphones.
A: He can't be disturbed. 他不能被打扰。
M: Neither am I . And I am . very disturbed. 我也不能，可我却被打扰了。这非常困扰我。
三、 
下面几句是剧中大坏蛋的对白，这个大坏蛋，人坏心坏语言却挺讲究。
1、Forgive my ignorance, but I'm a little uninformed on the European perspective.( 远景, 前途, 观点, 看法) But I'm always willing to learn. In fact, I’d be delighted if you would enlighten me on that subject, perhaps over dinner?
请原谅我的无知，对于欧洲事物我所知甚少。但是我很愿意学习，事实上，我将非常荣幸，如果你愿意指点我一二，或许在晚餐的时候？
2、Grief intense, I understand. 悲痛欲绝，我理解。
3、The walls have ears（隔墙有耳） down here in Mexico, so I whispered into them.
四、 
两个女人一台戏，两大墨西哥养眼美女佩内洛普.克鲁兹和塞尔玛.海耶克扮演的女绑匪Maria and Sara , 一个是ignorant farm girl 一个是spoiled brat.两人见面就打，不过患难中还是建立了革命友情。
奉献出两人的几段精彩对话。
Part one:
M: what are you doing here?
S: what do you think I'm doing? I'm taking this bank. 抢银行
M: with an unloaded gun? 用没上膛的枪？
S:How do you know?
M: when a gun doesn't have any bullets…it doesn't matter. This bank is taken. Find another one .
S: This is the only bank in town. Besides this is my father's. and take that raggedy (褴褛的, 破烂的)mask off . it doesn't even match your shirt. Everybody knows  who you are. 拿掉你的破面罩，它根本和你的衣服不配套。
M: Your mask isn't silly ? People won't recognize that voice 'this is my father's bank.'
你的面罩就不傻吗？人们难道认不出来那个说“这是我父亲的银行”的声音？
S: This is my father's bank . Get out of my way. I need to finish my job.
快点给我滚开。
M:I would hardly call stealing a job.
S: I'm not stealing . I'm taking it back from the bastards who murdered my
father.
Part two:
M: Rice and beans are not good enough for you?
米饭和豆子太粗了，吃不惯？
S: I just can’t eat when I see what has been done to the people.
 看到他们的遭遇我吃不下。
M: At least tonight they can eat.
S: We have to find a way to get them back on their on their land. We must come up with （想出） a plan. Something will benefit the people and destroy these murderers. （使人们受惠，并能铲除这些凶手）I think we
should rob more banks.
M: let’s go.
S: (brushing her hair) We can’t just go right now and rob a bank.
（一边梳头一边说）我们不能现在就去抢银行。
M: Fine. Finish brushing.
好吧！等你梳完头的！（这段比较爆笑，Maria 以为Sara现在不去抢银行是因为没梳完头呢！）
B: That’s not it. We’re not ready.
不是说这个。我们还没准备好呢！
Part three:
S: You know this might be the last time we get to talk.
M: Don’t say that. It’s bad luck. I’m a superstitious peasant, remember?
我只是个迷信的村姑，你忘了？
S: No, you’re a lot more than that. You always know what you want and you always know what you feel.
不，你才真正清醒的人。你有明确的目标，也清楚自己的感受。
M: It's been good to have you as a partner.
S: It's been good to have you as a friend.
（之前，当Maria说sara是她的朋友时，sara纠正道是partner。这一次，她又纠正道：是friend.俩人的感情从此处真正开始啦。）
Part four:
片尾，和俩绑匪产生暧昧情感的男主角回到了美国。俩人怅然若失，骑马,离去。
M: Don't you think it's obvious that he doesn't love her?
你难道不认为他很明显不爱她吗？
S: Is that why you woke me up? I was finally having such a nice sleep.
这就是你叫醒我的原因？我好不容易才睡个好觉。
M: At least you can sleep. I never had trouble sleeping before I met you. Now I can't stop thinking.
至少你还能睡着。遇见你前我从来没有睡不着的毛病。现在的脑袋总停不住地想问题。
S: You should be very grateful that now your brain is thinking. Would you please be quiet so I can at least enjoy the sunset?
 你该感谢我，你的脑子终于开始思考啦！你能安静会让我至少能欣赏一下夕阳吗？
M: You've never seen a sunset before?
S: It's just this sunset reminds me of a particularly beautiful one I saw in cadiz.
 它让我想起来以前在CADIZ见过的特别美丽的夕阳。
M: Can I ask you one more thing?
S: One more.
M: How are the banks in Europe?
S: Bigger.
五、 
两个女绑匪的师傅是个professional bandit, called Mr.Buck.说话也很风趣幽默。
1，To learn, you gotta have resources.So far the only thing you’ve shown me is a talent for bringing trouble to my front door.
学习起码得有点材料才行。目前为止，我只看到你们把麻烦带到我门口的才能。
2，First of all , if you pull the trigger on that gun the way you’re pointed, you might cause it to rain.
如果你扣扳机，朝你瞄准的方向打去，可能会把雨打下来。
3，All right, look , no whining,(原型：whine,发牢骚；抱怨,嘀嘀咕咕地说) no complaining, no fighting or adios.(再见)
听着，不需啰唆，不需抱怨，不许打架，不然我就走人。
六、 
要想rob the bank，要牢记下面三条
1，No one gets killed.
2，Don’t take more than you can carry in one hand.
3，Getting away is the first rule.
如果搭伴rob the bank , please add one.
Trust your partner with you life.
七、 
经典对白
1，if you kiss a man right, he’ll never forget you. If you kiss a man wrong, he’ll never remember you . if you kiss a man like that , you’ll be forgotten before you leave the room.
2，A gun-happy farm girl, an ugly dog, a wet-behind –the ears cop and a spoiled brat. What a team. 天真无邪的村姑，丑了吧唧的狗，糊里糊涂的警察，娇生惯养的我，就这么个团队。
3，I might not know who I am but I know who I'm not, I'm not someone who lets her country down. 我可能不知道我是什么人，但我知道我不是什么人，我不是那种抛开自己的国家的人。
4，Q: I thought the house of God was open to all people at all times.
      我想上帝的房子在任何时候都向任何人开着。
       P: It is. But God is not at home right now.
     是的。但是上帝正好不在家。
5，Black is always a flattering color. 黑色是个迷人的颜色。
八、其它对白补充
   
1， How could you sell the mortgage(抵押) on my farm to the gringos(外国佬)?
2， I’ve worked my whole life to leave something to my poor daughter. All she knows is the farm life.
3， Higher authority 高层
4，The spitting（酷似） image of her mother, God rest her soul. 和她的母亲一摸一样。愿上帝保有她的母亲。
5， My condolences. 我深表遗憾。
6， Twenty year she’s gone now. 她走了已经20年了。（倒装句）
7， Left a girl , came home a woman.去时还是个少女，回来就是个成熟的女人了。
8，Gotta pay the toll.(通行税) 留下买路钱。
9，We were just debating the basic economic theories of wealth distribution. 我们正在辩论经济学的财富分配论问题。
10， But before you reach any hasty conclusions let me show you something. 但在你们急着得出结论钱，我带你们去个地方。
11，Toughs like that tend to come back with reinforcements.( 增援，加强；[复数形态时]援军) 他们一定会带更多的人来。
12，Last time, I go to confession. 我最后一次承认。

14，When I get nervous, I get the hiccups.（打嗝，词组 have the hiccups打嗝儿）
15，Many a man has been left to die for want an extra bullet.许多人就因为少了一颗子弹儿丧命。

17，That’s odd. These land transfers they left behind. 她们没拿走土地转让书。
18，So why don’t we both just focus on our respective(各自的, 分别的) areas of expertise,( 专门技能[知识]) okay?
19， I was raised to be a spoiled lady, not a renegade.( 叛徒, 变节者,离经叛道者) 我从小是娇生惯养的淑女，不是离经叛道的人。
20， Don’t play innocent with me. 别装傻了。
21，I wanna kill him. I dream of killing him. But if I do, that makes no better than him. 我就和他没两样了。

23，It means science has a place in the police work.科学在警界有了一席之地。
24，The railroad will go to other banks to finance （为…提供资金）their expansion.铁路公司的扩建计划就会由别的银行资助。
25,In 90 days, we’ll be laying track right through the middle of Mexico city.
90之内我们的铁轨就会穿过墨西哥市正中心。
